OMWD is seeking experienced candidates for the position of Water Treatment Plant Operator Level III. This position reports directly to the Water Treatment Facilities Supervisor. This at will position is responsible for operating and maintaining the District’s water treatment system including the water treatment plant and ammonia feed facility systems. The pay range is $29.72 - $41.61 per hour. Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Operates, monitors and controls systems via SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) to include energy recovery, membrane systems, clarification and dewatering systems, chemical feed and related systems equipment. Coordinates plant shutdowns, startups and flow changes with appropriate authorities.
Optimizes treatment plant processes to ensure regulatory compliance and water quality objectives are maintained at all times. Monitors membrane system performance and related parameters. Performs daily process control laboratory analyses and collects various samples.
Performs record keeping functions such as logging plant operations data, laboratory test results, maintenance, repair work performed, and unusual operating conditions encountered. Prepares routine monitoring and special reports as required. Inspects plant equipment and remote facilities and reports on failures or operating difficulties. Coordinates and assists with the successful completion of preventative and corrective maintenance projects on all systems throughout the plant, troubleshoots problem areas utilizing appropriate resources. Inspects, tests and maintains equipment. Maintains chemical feed systems. Minimum Qualifications:
Possession of a Water Treatment Operator Certificate Grade 3 (T3) and Water Distribution Operator Certificate Grade 2 (D2) are required. Three years of experience in the operation and maintenance of a water treatment plant to include PLC/SCADA systems experience. Availability for standby duty and the ability to be “on-call”, working evenings, weekends and holidays as needed. Experience with the operation of a membrane facility is highly desirable.
