The City of Fullerton is seeking an experienced, results-oriented, and collaborative individual with expertise to lead the Public Works Department's Water Division with responsibility for the management of the City's water system, including the safe, efficient and cost-effective administration of division activities. Fullerton operates the first PFAS treatment system in Orange County and construction of a second larger facility is anticipated Summer 2022. The ideal candidate will have a proven record as a leader and will bring fresh and innovative ideas to the City of Fullerton. This is an exceptional career opportunity for a practicing manager to broaden his or her skills in a City with larger scale operations or a supervisor ready to move into a leadership role as Fullerton's Water System is classified by the State as a D5/T2 system with potential of an upgrade to a T3 or higher in the future.

Under general direction, the successful candidate will plan, organize, oversee, coordinate, and review the work of staff performing difficult and complex professional, technical, and administrative support related to all programs and activities of the City's water utilities, including development of long- and short-term project planning, overseeing and/or participating in the design, construction, maintenance, and operations of all water utility infrastructure, water quality inspection services, and other programs; coordinate assigned activities with other City departments, divisions, and/or outside agencies; provide complex and responsible support to the Public Works executive leadership, and others in areas of expertise; and perform related work as required.

Any combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is considered qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualification is

A Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering, water science, or a related field from an accredited college or university is preferred.

Five years of recent, progressively responsible experience in water engineering, water distribution or in a similar position to include three years of supervisory experience.

D5 and T2 Certification required. T3 or higher certification preferred.
