The Water Quality section is staffed with Water Quality Technicians, assigned to wastewater and water environmental programs; The Laboratory Analyst, who serves as the laboratory staff lead, exercising functional and technical oversight of the laboratory technicians; and laboratory technicians who split their time between the two environmental laboratories. The laboratories are staffed five days per week and after hours and on weekends as necessary.
To plan, organize, direct, supervise and provide oversight of the water quality laboratory and environmental programs in support of the City of Benicia's water quality management and compliance with permits and regulatory requirements related to drinking water production and wastewater; and to perform a variety of professional and technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Minimum three years of progressively responsible experience in water quality regulatory compliance, laboratory analysis, management and/or administrative oversight of a Water Quality Division. Education:
Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in biology, microbiology, chemistry, environmental management or a related field. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California driver's license.
Possession of one of the following certificates is desirable:
- Grade I Environmental Compliance Inspector certificate issued by the California Water Environment Association.
- Laboratory Analyst Grade I certificate issued by the California Water Environment Association.
- Grade I Laboratory Analyst/Water Quality Analyst certificate from the California-Nevada Section of the American Water Works Association.
