Under general direction, the Water Production System Operator operates, maintains and repairs control systems, wells and pumping plants; including Liquid Phase Granulated Activated Carbon (LPGAC) systems; ION exchange treatment systems and air strippers treatment plants, and performs other related duties as required. Operates, evaluates and monitors controls that maintain adequate water supply for seasonal and daily consumptive requirements; Performs preventative maintenance on City equipment, machinery and control systems related to wells, pumping stations, storage facilities, Liquid Phase Granulated Activated Carbon (LPGAC) systems; ION exchange treatment systems and air strippers treatment plants; ph control acid injection systems and SCADA systems; Repairs, cleans and adjusts electrical control systems, mechanical equipment, hydraulic control values, pump control valves and various instrumentations; takes water samples for testing; performs basic laboratory analysis; maintains records relating to the operation, performance, maintenance and production of municipal water systems; maintains, repairs and adjusts chlorination equipment. Individuals in this classification are subject to after-hours; weekend and emergency response call out. Performs other related duties as required.
Education and Experience: Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
One-year experience in the operation and maintenance of water production systems and/or treatment plants. Equivalent to graduation from high school supplemented by specialized training in water treatment methods and practices.
License and Certificates:
Possession of a valid, Class C California motor vehicle operator's license and a satisfactory driving record are required at the time of appointment and as a continuing condition of employment. Possession of a valid California Class B license is preferred. A California State Department of Health, Water Treatment Operator Grade 2 Certificate is required at time of appointment. T3 Certificate highly desirable.
Salary: $4,641 to $5,938 Monthly
