As a Lakehaven Maintenance Person, you will be part of a team that has been recognized by the National Association of Clean Water Agencies for its environmental stewardship and has been a long-standing member of the American Water Works Association. Lakehaven has a service area population of over 135,000 people living across a 35 square mile area in south King County, makings us the second largest special-purpose water and sewer district in the state. Our water system includes 450 miles of water mains, 25 active wells and 12 storage tanks, which allows us to meet a current annual average water demand of 10 million gallons per day (MGD) from the community. Lakehaven also has two wastewater treatment plants, 27 sewer lift stations, and 350 miles of sewer mains capable of collecting and treating up to 15.6 MGD. Our Water Operations team performs field data collection, maintenance, and construction work throughout the District. Operates hand/power tools, equipment, and machinery to accomplish assigned duties such as, but not limited to; grounds/building maintenance, operating and maintaining valves/pumps, pipe cleaning, installation and repair of water facilities, flagging, excavating, and erosion control work. This position will be assigned to grounds maintenance. Duties include, but are not limited to, mowing, trimming, pruning, weeding, raking, planting, spraying, watering, and general site cleanup/hauling/disposal activities. Position placement and pay is dependent upon experience and qualifications.
The successful candidate should have some of the following:
- Practical experience performing routine grounds maintenance and general repair of grounds maintenance equipment.
- Proficient in the safe operation of gas engine equipment (i.e. large deck mowers, brush hogs, chainsaws, line trimmers, blowers and pressure washers).
- Experience in the safe operation of a 1- ton dump truck and, hauling and backing up trailers with backhoes, tractors, and/or chippers.
- Familiar with irrigation maintenance and repair, pruning techniques (i.e. the appropriate seasons to prune trees and shrubs), application of herbicides & pesticides using spray equipment.
- Commercial Drivers License desired but not required at time of hire.
