The City of Modesto is currently accepting applications for Water Conservation Specialist. The Water Conservation Specialist is responsible to plan, coordinate and administer various day-to-day activities pertaining to the City's Water Conservation Program; to promote the efficient use of the City's water supply to residential, industrial, commercial public agencies and other customers to ensure sufficient pressure throughout the system for fire protection and other essential City services; to investigate and identify compliance issues; to communicate with regulatory agencies as required and serve as a water conservation liaison for the City.

The City of Modesto is looking for someone who is self-motivated, innovative and a people person. This position is responsible for educating the City on water conservation practices, making continuing education key as the City strives to implement best practices.

Experience and Training Guidelines:
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience:
Two years of related experience involving water utility management, environmental management, conservation, public education, and or the application of municipal codes in an enforcement and/or inspection capacity.

Experience with a municipal or private water utility is highly desirable.

Training:
Equivalent to an Associate of Arts Degree from an accredited college in biological science, environmental studies, business administration, or a related field.

Additional specialized training in the water management field is highly desirable.

Licenses or Certificates:
Must possess and maintain a valid California drivers license.

Possession of a certificate as a Water Conservation Practitioner I, issued by the American Water Works Association is required by the end of probationary period.

Other Requirements:
During the course of employment, may be required to attend and successfully complete training courses as needed to perform assigned duties, including First Aid and CPR.

Salary: $51,425 to $62,507 Annually
