The Wastewater Utility Worker reports to the Wastewater Utility Supervisor. The primary function of this position is to perform skilled and semi-skilled duties related to reclaimed, recharge or waste water collection. Follows preventative maintenance procedures and schedules on vehicles, equipment and hand tools. Inspects and monitors work-related conditions to determine compliance with prescribed operating and safety procedures in order to protect public and worker safety including the use of personal protective equipment. Must be able to work independently or within a team.

Additional essential duties depending on the area of assignment include but are not limited to:

  • Performs the proper construction, maintenance and repair techniques and procedures for work associated with the reclaimed water distribution system infrastructure;

  • Monitor water volumes that are delivered to percolation basins and customer sites;

  • Assist with repair of CCTV equipment;

  • Cleans and repairs sewer mains, force mains and plumbing at lift stations and assist with odor control operations;

  • Maintains and repairs irrigation ditches, underground distribution lines, gates, valves, roadways and percolation pond perimeter? fences;

  • May work in confined spaces such as manholes, vaults or wells;

  • Prepares work reports;

  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • 1 year of specialized or technical training beyond high school in water, wastewater or related field (may include on-the-job training)

  • 1 year of experience, depending on area of assignment in water, reclaimed water, distribution system operation, including maintenance practices or working knowledge of wastewater collection systems, maintenance, operation and general construction.

  • Class A Commercial Driver's License with Tanker Endorsement at the time of hire

  • ADEQ Grade I Wastewater Collections, Water Distribution or Water/Wastewater Treatment Certification within 1 year of hire (in at least one or more of the above mentioned areas)

  • Office of Pest Management Pesticide Applicators License preferred

  • NASSCO Certification for pipe assessment and manhole assessment preferred

Salary: $16.59 to $23.22 Hourly
