The Utility Worker (UW) performs primary relief work under various field operations classifications. In addition, a Utility Worker fulfills various aspects of maintenance operations. This includes, change, clean and replace meter and meter boxes, assist in repair and perform maintenance on water mains, service lines, street/sidewalks, and fire hydrants; clean and paint station/treatment plant equipment and appurtenances. This position is located in Atherton, CA.
•Performs relief work under various field operations classifications
•Change and replace 5/8” through 1” size meters, boxes, and lids
•Clean out 5/8” through 1” size meter box
•Assists to flush and perform maintenance on all necessary functions of mains, which includes operation system valves
•Assists in setting, replacing, or removing 1-1/2” and 2” size meters
•Notifies for shutdowns
•General maintenance of company’s facilities
•Collects water samples to a minor extent
•Performs best management practices on all discharges
•Complies with Company policies and procedures regarding safe working conditions; attends required safety training
•Participates in and supports the Company’s Continuous Improvement program and projects
•Performs other similar duties as assigned
•High School diploma or possession of a GED
•State Water Resources Control Board-Drinking Water–Operator Certification Programs Water Distribution Operator Grade II Certification
•Experience with water utility, construction, or plumbing desired
•Excellent written, verbal, and public speaking skills
•Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications
•Must live within 45 minutes of the district office
•Valid California Driver license
