SUMMARY
Under the direction of the District’s Utility Systems Manager, the Utility System Operator I, II, & III support the District’s Utility System Manager in operating and maintaining the District’s water, sewer, solid waste, lighting, and facilities infrastructure including skilled and unskilled work associated with infrastructure repairs, rehabilitation, and light construction activities and during emergencies. This position is in a field environment, with exposure to weather, traffic, and other hazardous conditions, extensive contact with the general public in a customer service environment. Functions require maintaining physical condition necessary for strenuous physical activities and extensive physical labor.

The current pay ranges:
Utility Systems Operator I is $23.81 - $30.41 per hour
Utility System Operator II is $25.58 – $32.67
Utility Systems Operator III is $27.50 - $35.11, depending on prior work experience
The position is eligible for representation by the Service Employees International Union, Local 620 (SEIU 620). Must possess a California Class C driver’s license at the time of employment and must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Class A driver’s license within six months of employment. Must obtain a Grade D1 certificate issued by the California State Water Resource Control Board and a Water Treatment Operator Grade TI certificate issued by the California State Water Resource Control Board within 24 months of employment. Bilingual employees may be eligible for 5% additional pay.
