Jefferson County Public Works Department is hiring a Utility Manager to lead two critical programs: Solid Waste Disposal and Recycling Services and development and implementation of a new wastewater treatment system in Jefferson County’s sole Urban Growth Area. This is a unique opportunity to lead the implementation of a new wastewater treatment facility, and maintain and build upon a successful solid waste management program.
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated and organized leader with an outcome oriented approach and be current in trends and challenges of wastewater management and solid waste disposal and recycling services.
Responsibilities include preparing and monitoring the division budget; developing long- and short-term goals and objectives; monitoring and evaluating efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods; managing and implementing solid waste activities including the efficient operation of the transfer station, drop box site, recycle and MRW facilities; ensuring compliance with state and federal requirements; coordinating activities with other divisions, departments and outside agencies; and, public outreach to engage the community in the solid waste disposal, recycling and wastewater management programs.
Experience in developing and implementing a wastewater system, procuring and managing large facility design contracts, and developing funding strategies for achieving wastewater project objectives are a plus. This job also requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt to evolving technologies.
Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in business or public administration, civil engineering, utility management, or closely related field and four years of progressively responsible engineering/professional experience in planning, design, and/or construction of public works projects, with emphasis in solid waste management, wastewater and/or surface water management systems and the associated federal and state regulatory requirements, including two years at a supervisory level.
Salary: $5,944 to $7,988 Monthly, Exempt Salary Grade 20, Excellent Benefit Package
