The City of Hayward is seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer for the Department of Public Works & Utilities. This senior-level position is responsible for implementing a diverse range of water resources activities, including sustainable groundwater management, recycled water, and water conservation. The Senior Water Resources Engineer reports directly to the Water Resources Manager and has a key role in ensuring a reliable and sustainable water supply for residents and businesses.

The incumbent will have a hands-on role in implementing innovative water resource development projects, regional partnerships and water demand management. As examples, the successful candidate will manage technical aspects of the City's responsibilities as a Groundwater Sustainability Agency, including development and implementation of the Groundwater Sustainability Plan in cooperation with a regional partner and implementation of future phases of the City's recycled water program.

The ideal candidate will be a collaborative individual with strong technical capabilities, excellent communication skills and the ability to establish positive working relationships with colleagues, local constituents and regional partners. A strong work ethic, accountability and commitment to sustainability in all aspects of water resources planning will also be required to succeed in this position.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Experience: Four (4) years of progressively responsible professional-level experience as an engineer or related field with a focus on water resources management, including one (1) year of supervisory experience.

Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in natural or physical sciences or engineering. A Master's degree in a similar field is desirable.

License or Certificate: Possession of a valid California Class C Driver's License. Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent professional registration/certification in a science field.

Salary: $128,918 to $156,666 Annually
