Mesa Water District (Mesa Water®) is now accepting applications for a Senior Operator - Production to join our Water Operations Department. This position will join a team of dedicated water professionals who passionately serve our community by helping provide clean, safe, and reliable drinking water to our customers. The Senior Operator leads, oversees, and participates in the more complex and difficult work of staff responsible for performing a variety of skilled and semi-skilled work involved in the operation of water production facilities.

Ideal candidates will have experience:

  • Maintaining and repairing potable water wells, reservoirs, disinfection and treatment related equipment.

  • Monitoring, reviewing, interpreting data, and adjusting controls within the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system to ensure proper operation of District facilities.

  • Recommending, coordinating, and overseeing the work of contractors responsible for making repairs to water production systems.

About Our District
Mesa Water provides approximately 16,000 acre-feet per year (AFY) of domestic water and approximately 1,100 AFY of recycled water to approximately 110,000 customers in an 18-square mile area covering the City of Costa Mesa, parts of Newport Beach, unincorporated sections of Orange County and the John Wayne Airport. Mesa Water uses 100% groundwater supplies to meet its customers’ demands with 317 miles of pipeline, seven domestic groundwater wells, three reservoirs, five imported back-up water supply connections, and an advanced membrane treatment facility.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by vocational/technical training in water utility science, water distribution infrastructure maintenance and repair practices, mechanical maintenance and repair practices, and/or construction inspection.

Experience: Four years of experience in the operation, maintenance, installation, and repair of water production infrastructure.

License/Certificate:

  • Grade 3 Water Distribution (D3) Certificate issued by the Division of Drinking Water.

  • Grade 2 Water Treatment (T2) Certificate issued by the Division of Drinking Water.

  • Valid Class A driver's license with air brake endorsement required & satisfactory driving record.

  • Membrane Operator Certification issued by Southwest Membrane Operators Association is desirable.

Other: Must reside within 25 miles of the nearest boundary to Mesa Water District in order to participate in the mandatory standby program and respond to emergencies.
