THE POSITION
Under the general direction, manages the activities of the District’s engineering function, including; the design, planning, and construction of water system infrastructure; conducting engineering studies and analysis; project management and consultant/contractor oversight; preparing technical reports, bid documents, and staff reports; tracking budgets and grant requirements; overseeing plan checking and inspection tasks; negotiating agreements and coordinating development work; ensuring adherence to professional engineering standards; and providing customer service to the general public, developers, contractors, engineering professionals, and District staff regarding engineering related items. This position may supervise lower-level engineering staff. Overseeing the GIS program.

THE DISTRICT
Rincon del Diablo Municipal Water District is a small special district that provides potable water, reclaimed water, sewer, and fire protection services for the community. With 21 employees, an operating budget of $18 million, and a capital budget of $9 million, the District strives to provide efficiency and a high level of service to its ratepayers. The District serves a population of almost 30,000 over 42 square miles with over 8,000 potable and recycled service connections, 119 miles of potable water pipeline, 6 miles of recycled water pipeline, 10 reservoirs, and 6 pump stations, water reclamation plant, lift station, and 750 sewer connections.

QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of education and experience that would establish possession of the knowledge and abilities required for the position is qualifying. A typical way to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities would be:

  • Graduation from a four-year college/university with a degree in civil or mechanical engineering

  • Minimum of three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in an engineering field

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of California is required


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Anticipated hiring salary is between $100,000 and $120,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience. The District offers an attractive and comprehensive benefit program, as follows:
