IDEAL CANDIDATE
The successful candidate will possess a strong safety background with previous experience supporting field operations and office staff safety programs. The incumbent will have the opportunity to engage with and provide significant support to Western's Safety Officer by creating and delivering the highest level of safety training programs to district employees and creating a strong culture and environment surrounding the safety and security of the organization.
Experienced candidates will possess a minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible professional safety administrative and field level experience with safety programs and/or safety training, safety inspection, enforcement of field policy/regulation compliance, or a related field within a large, complex water agency responsible for water distribution and treatment facility activities. POSITION OVERVIEW:
Under general supervision, performs a variety of duties in the implementation and coordination of the District's safety and safety training programs in compliance with federal, state, and local safety, health, and environmental laws and regulations; performs field inspections of District facilities, equipment, and job sites and ensures compliance with regulations; coordinates loss prevention duties including identifying, evaluating, controlling, and minimizing potential hazards and injuries to District employees and property; assists with the District's Emergency Response Programs; maintains and coordinates on-going programs to provide training for employees on safety procedures; and performs related work as required.
Incumbents within this classification may report the Safety Officer or other supervisory or management staff. Receives general supervision from assigned supervisory or management staff. Exercises no direct supervision over staff.
District employees are expected to work overtime, weekends, evenings and holidays as required to accommodate the District needs, in addition to responding as a Disaster Emergency Service Worker. LEARN MORE/APPLY:
