The Maintenance Utility Technician will perform general to semi-skilled maintenance duties for the treatment plant, field locations and office facilities. The incumbent will be responsible for general housekeeping including basic repairs, painting, lighting lamp replacement, and landscape irrigation. Facility maintenance, including painting plant equipment, piping, and structures. Process and building maintenance include. minor remodeling, furniture modifications and moves, basic plumbing repairs, roof leaks, meeting setups, and other related activities that may also include assisting with welding activities. May be required to work in non-permit and permit required confined spaces and perform other duties of a similar nature or level. Will be required to wear personal protective clothing/equipment appropriate for job assignments including SCBA. Must comply with District’s Respiratory Protection Program and CAL OSHA Safety Regulations.
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Degree. One – two years of related work experience demonstrating mechanical aptitude; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Must be able to obtain a forklift certification within 3 months of hire.
Skills and ability:
Perform basic repairs and preventative maintenance. Utilize equipment and tools typically used in assigned area. Operate a variety of hand and power tools. Ability to us a computer for written communication and work orders on the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). Perform very heavy work, exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, intense noises and travel.
4/10 currently, but post-covid is 9/80 with every Monday off. May be required to work shifts, weekends, overtime, and holidays.
Salary Range: $27.73 - $34.67 per hour
