Governmental Affairs Program
Two positions will be filled from this applicant pool.
Primary representative of the District to local governments, agencies, regional planning councils, water resource work groups, and local, state, and federal elected and appointed officials; communicates information on programs, projects, permit applications and services of the District; provides water resource information, promotes and coordinates partnership projects with local governments.
Job duties include:
- Conducts targeted communication efforts to address specific resource issues and concerns when appropriate; coordinates with various District divisions and other appropriate agencies to ensure that external communications include accurate information and is presented in a professional and consistent manner.
- Monitors local and regional water and natural resource issues and communicates emerging issues to key District staff; works proactively and in a timely manner with local governments to identify and resolve water and natural resource issues related to the District.
- Assists local governments with the development and amendment of plans and ordinances related to water and natural resources and works with local government planning staffs to monitor status of their comprehensive planning efforts to facilitate coordination with District intergovernmental planners.
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public administration, government relations, communications, political science, public relations, urban and regional planning, and/or an earth science; and four years of progressively responsible professional experience in communications, public and/or intergovernmental relations. Prefer experience working for and/or with Florida local and/or state government.
Professional experience in the areas described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education. SJRWMD has determined this to be a mandatory-testing position as described in Section 440.102, Florida Statutes. Any offer of employment for a mandatory-testing position and will be contingent upon successfully passing a drug screening paid by SJRWMD. $53,414.40 - $71,219.20
