This is advanced work involving the design and/or evaluation of complex hydrologic studies and project, and certifying hydrologic work as required by Florida Statutes. Job duties include:
- Utilizes numerical groundwater flow models and related evaluation tools to support District programs including water supply planning, water use permitting and minimum flows and levels. This includes preparing written documentation of simulation results, presentation of those results to regulated public, and mentoring staff in the use and application of evaluation tools.
- Performs advanced, independent hydrologic/hydrogeologic research in which statistical, analytical, and numerical models are developed to characterize the groundwater flow and quality aspects of various geographical areas of the District; identifies data required to develop numerical model input data sets from available hydrologic/hydrogeologic and agricultural data, involving the development of digital data from non-digital data sources, transformation of GIS data into formats consistent with numerical model formats, and review and transformation of well data from outside sources. prepares technical reports, professional papers, and memoranda on work completed.
- Researches, reviews and selects application software for groundwater projects. Participates in all phases of software selection including planning, development, implementation and training.
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in geology, hydrology or a related field, and registration with the State of Florida as a Professional Geologist or Professional Engineer. Base Salary:
