At the journey-level, this role requires independent judgment and initiative, managing duties in alignment with established policies and procedures. • Is open-minded and capable of seeing problems from multiple perspectives and identifying practical solutions to best suit the given circumstances

  • Is flexible and a quick learner, and is able to adjust work products based on the latest scientific findings or policy/regulatory updates

  • Is a strong communicator, able to clearly and cohesively convey key messages to a wide range of audiences with varying levels of technical expertise.

What you will typically be responsible for:

  • Technical analysis of projects affecting flow and water quality in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta (Delta)

  • Summarizing findings into reports and presentations for both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Engaging in multi-agency technical and science work groups and staying up-to-date on issues related to California water supply

  • Processing, interpreting, summarizing, and visualizing water-resources-related data and information

A few reasons you might enjoy this job:

  • You are passionate about California water resources and serving your community.

  • This work involves multiple challenging and ever-evolving problems, where experts of different backgrounds work together to integrate science and policy.

Candidates with the following skills will find themselves well-equipped to navigate the unique challenges of this role:

  • Graduate-level research experience; the ability to conduct a literature review and identify suitable avenues for additional relevant research.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel as well as programming tools, such as R, Python, and/or MATLAB.
