This is a temporary limited term (TLT) position. This is a benefited position that is not represented by a union. Per City policy, the term of this position shall not exceed six (6) years. There is one vacancy that will be filled via this recruitment process.

Position Summary
Under the direction of the Public Works Operations Manager, perform a variety of professional engineering duties in planning, programming, design, analysis, and development of Public Works utilities and other municipal projects.

Work is characterized by experienced and advanced-level professional engineering duties related to public utilities (water, sanitary sewer, storm drainage) and other municipal public works projects. The incumbent is also required to prepare engineering plans/specifications for utility improvements, Request For Proposals (RFPs), and Request For Qualifications (RFQs); review both private and City construction plans and specifications; oversight of engineering projects; serve as Project lead to consultants and/or contractors; provide construction support, including inspection; providing engineering and technical expertise; communicating with internal and external customers; representing the City at assigned regional committees; and maintaining a variety of engineering records. The incumbent may come in contact with irate or hostile individuals, requiring the exercise of tact, patience, courtesy and judgment.

Education, Experience and Other Requirements:

Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or related field; and

Six (6) years of professional and increasingly responsible experience in Water, Sewer/Storm, or Utilities Engineering or a related field.


In place of the above requirements, the incumbent may possess any combination of relevant education and experience which would demonstrate the individual's knowledge, skill, and ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed here.

State of Washington Professional Engineer (Civil) license required

Salary: $79,524.00 - $96,936.00 Annually
