Performs advanced technical and paraprofessional engineering duties in support of a variety of engineering design and construction projects; and performs related duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with AutoCad processes, procedures and standards; have knowledge of a water treatment and distribution system; and the ability to establish accurate measurements and record as-built conditions for new construction and upgrade projects. A Water Distribution Operator Grade I is highly desirable.

An Associate's degree in engineering or a closely related field; and five years of progressively responsible sub-professional engineering experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Some positions may require a Nevada driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District's Vehicle Insurance Policy. Some positions may require the ability to obtain a Water Distribution Operator Grade II certificate issued by the State of Nevada.

KNOWLEDGE OF: Standard principles, practices and methods of engineering design and construction applicable to a large complex potable water utility; engineering mathematics, including algebra, geometry and trigonometry; Uniform Design and Construction Standards and building codes and environmental regulations applicable to District design and construction projects; standard principles and practices of construction management and contract administration; permitting requirements and approval processes; methods of hydraulic analysis and modeling; methods and procedures for development of engineering design and construction specifications; terminology, methods, practices, techniques and nomenclature of civil, mechanical and/or electrical engineering drafting; digital data handling and reporting methods and software; design and operations of the District's distribution and transmission systems; applicable District operating policies and departmental work procedures and quality standards.

ABILITY TO: Coordinate and monitor complex technical processes related to District capital construction projects; perform highly technical engineering analyses and calculations and reach sound accurate conclusions; read, understand and interpret engineering plans, drawings, specifications, maps and other technical materials applicable to the work; operate and use a variety of field test and data collection equipment to obtain highly accurate data; utilize GIS and other engineering/facilities databases to obtain information required for the work; utilize computers and a variety of District databases to track and document facilities construction projects; communicate effectively both orally and in writing, using clear and concise technical language; perform highly detailed work thoroughly, neatly and accurately; develop and maintain effective working relationships with District staff, consulting engineers, representatives of other agencies and others encountered in the course of work.

Salary: $32.75 Hourly
